For six weeks every winter, Dubai turns into one long sale with fireworks. Malls cut prices, there are raffles and concerts, and the sky over the coast fills with drones most nights. Planning your days is easy: you go shopping. Planning your evenings is where most people get it wrong, because the best things happen at the same time in different parts of the city.
When is DSF 2026-27?
The 32nd Dubai Shopping Festival has been announced for Friday 4 December 2026 to Sunday 17 January 2027, about 45 days in total. It is organised by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE).
Two big dates fall inside the festival window: the first weekend overlaps with UAE National Day, and New Year's Eve is right in the middle of it.
What happens after dark?
Near Dubai Marina, the headline is the free drone show over Bluewaters and The Beach at JBR. Last season it ran every night of the festival, at 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM. We wrote a full guide to where to watch it and where to stand.
Across the city there are also concerts, markets, and fireworks on selected nights. Those schedules change every year, so treat any list you find before December as a guess.
Four evening plans around Dubai Marina
1. Cruise night
Shop in the afternoon at Dubai Marina Mall or anywhere else in the city, then board a dinner cruise. The Marina Dhow Cruise Dinner boards at 8:00 PM, sails until 10:30 PM, and costs AED 90 per person with a buffet dinner and live Tanoura show. This is the simplest plan and it works on any night.
2. Drone show night
Eat dinner on land near JBR, then walk to the beach for the 8:00 PM or 10:00 PM drone show. Be there 15 minutes early.
3. Both in one evening
Here is the honest part: our evening dinner cruises clash with both drone shows. Boarding is at 8:00 PM and you are back at about 10:30 PM. If you want the boat and the drones on the same night, book a private yacht for the late afternoon instead. It sails at any time of day (from AED 500 per hour, 2 hours minimum), so you can watch the sunset from the water and still be on the beach for the 8:00 PM show.
4. Something special
For a birthday, an anniversary or the last night of a holiday, the Premium VIP Marina Cruise (AED 150) has a 5-star buffet and a red carpet welcome. You can add a cake, decorations or a private table — see our celebration guide for costs.
Practical tips for festival evenings
- Bring a layer. Evenings by the water in December and January are cooler than people expect, especially on an open upper deck.
- Skip the car. Take the metro to DMCC or Jumeirah Lakes Towers and then the tram. Parking around JBR fills up early on show nights. We can also arrange a shared transfer (AED 30 per person) or a private car (AED 300 for up to 7 people) to the cruise.
- Weekends fill first. Friday and Saturday evenings during the festival are busy. If your dates are flexible, a weekday cruise is calmer.
- Children. Kids aged 3 and under sail free, and the 8:00 PM drone show is the better one if bedtime matters.
The short version
DSF 2026-27 runs from 4 December 2026 to 17 January 2027. Near the Marina, the free drone show is the big evening event, but it clashes with the 8:00 PM dinner cruises, so do them on different nights or take an afternoon yacht. Bring a jacket, take the metro, and book weekend evenings early.
